Hazard Communication (HazCom)

All state employees
Description:
This course is intended
for the entire New York State workforce and provides information
employees need to know concerning the Federal Occupational Safety
and Health Administration (OSHA) Hazard Communication Standard,
also called HCS or HazCom, and the New York State Right–to–Know
Law. The responsibilities of supervisors, managers, and other administrators
in complying with the HazCom and Right–to–Know Law are described
as well.
Topics:
- Identifying hazardous chemicals in the workplace and ways to prevent exposure to these chemicals
- Listing the information provided by the primary labeling of hazardous chemicals
- Describing the information provided by a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS)
- Stating the responsibilities regarding compliance with the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard and the New York State Right–to–Know Law
